I am working on some smaller castings at the moment which are unexplored territory for me.
I don't know many artists who cast on a small scale so I have no real point of reference, I have been reading up on casting techniques in the hope that I can inform my own practice as much as possible before delving in at the deep end!
So far I have made gel-flex (a re-meltable rubber) moulds of some objects, some originally sculpted and some found objects, which I intend to cast in wax to made lost-wax moulds from. Some of these moulds are not filling up to the finer points (tails, ears, etc) with wax when I try to cast them so I may have to sculpt those bits on afterwards unless I can find a way to cast them, I will try heating up the mould in warm water first but that is the only thing I can think of so far.
I will post some of my trials soon.

I am a UK based Hot Glass Masters student trying to make my way in the art world. I work primarily in hot glass and my influences are mainly sub-cultures, urban tribes and the human psyche to varying degrees. I look at niche groups (such as fetishists, rockers, punks, bikers, furries etc) and how they fit in to our (typically british) society. I also look at how they are viewed by others and the predjudice they recieve.
Other obsessions include werewolves, unicorns/horses, corsets, victorian ornamenting (leafy swirly stuff), latex, pvc, the beautiful female and male form, and rock/metal styles.

Current Residence: Tamworth, West Midlands
Favourite genre of music: Rock, Metal,
Favourite photographer: Karl Blossfeldt,
Favourite cartoon character: Pluto, Kiba-Wolfs Rain, Rafiki-Lion King
